A small home breeder in southwest Wisconsin
We are based in Lone Rock, in the Wisconsin River valley between Spring Green and Richland Center. Every Bear Valley Dachshund is born and raised right here in our home, underfoot in the living room rather than in a kennel building. That means our puppies meet everyday life, footsteps, and family from their very first weeks.
We breed for sound, devoted Dachshunds with beautiful color. You will see colors like Black and Silver Dapple, Chocolate Dapple, and Chocolate and Tan in our litters. When we breed dapple, we always pair a dapple with a non dapple, so we never produce a double dapple litter.
Honest about size
Our Dachshunds grow up to be around 11 to 14 pounds as adults. We do not call them miniature, because that is not what we breed. If you are set on a true miniature Dachshund, we would rather tell you up front than have you drive home with the wrong fit.
What we care about more than a number on a scale is structure and condition. A Dachshund kept at a healthy weight, with a sound back and good muscle, is set up for a longer, more comfortable life. We are glad to talk through what to expect as your puppy grows.
Within easy reach of most of Wisconsin
Lone Rock sits in the middle of the region, so a day trip to pick up your puppy is realistic for most families across Wisconsin and the neighboring states.

Why Wisconsin families choose Bear Valley
Raised in our living room
Our puppies are not raised in a separate building. They grow up in the middle of family life, socialized with people, household noise, and our other animals from the start.
Dapples bred safely
Dapple is one of the things buyers love about our line, and it is one we take seriously. We always pair a dapple with a non dapple, so we never produce a double dapple litter.
Honest, in person
Our parents are AKC registered. We will tell you what we know and what we do not, talk through size and temperament honestly, and welcome you to meet us before you commit.
Bringing your Dachshund home
Most families pick up their puppy here at our home in Lone Rock. It gives you a chance to meet us, see where your puppy was raised, and ask every question in person. Our Dachshund puppies go home at around eight weeks.
If you live outside of easy driving range, we are happy to talk through a flight nanny who accompanies your puppy in the cabin. We will be honest with you about what each option costs and what it involves, so you can choose what feels right for your family.
Common questions from Wisconsin buyers
Are your Dachshunds miniature?
No. Our Dachshunds are around 11 to 14 pounds as adults. We do not breed or market them as miniature, and we would rather be clear about that from the start.
Do you breed double dapple?
No. We always pair a dapple with a non dapple, so a double dapple litter is never produced here. It is a deliberate choice in how we plan our pairings.
